TSU Urban Planning Students Visit Pearland Office
Our Pearland office hosted urban planning graduate students from Texas Southern University (TSU) for a Pearland office visit. The visit was part of the American Planning Association (APA) Emerging Planning Leaders (EPL) initiative. This initiative gives student planners a first-hand look into day-to-day activities of professional planners, helping to provide opportunities for them to explore a variety of planning services, both in the public and private sector.
Urban planners Shad Comeaux and Alexis Garcia gave a brief presentation to the students, sharing information about Freese and Nichols and their perspective of the urban planning profession in the private sector. Shad and Alexis shared their experience as public and private sector planners and offered advice to the students to promote their future careers. With Shad’s service on the APA Houston Section board as director-elect, he and the section hope to bridge the professional gap between the emerging generation of planners.
TSU is the only university in the Houston metropolitan area that offers an accredited Urban Planning and Environmental Policy Master’s Degree.
