The Texas Water Development Board’s announcement of the Request for Applications for the Fiscal Year 2018 and 2019 Flood Protection grants has been posted.

The purpose of this request for applications is to provide assistance to political subdivisions to implement prevention and/or corrective measures for reducing loss of life and property due to flood. In consideration of the significant and deadly flooding events in 2015 and 2016, as well as Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the TWDB is placing a high priority on projects with the merit and ability to protect the health, public safety and economic prosperity of Texans residing in declared disaster areas dating from May 2015 to September 2017 to include all declared areas from the seven federally declared disasters as well as state declared disasters.

Grant money will be awarded for qualifying flood protection planning projects, flood early warning systems or the implementation of local strategies for alerting and responding to floods. Projects must be completed before Aug. 31, 2021 to qualify for funding.
