Presented at the Georgia Association of Floodplain Management 2020 conference.

This workshop describes what the FEMA Letter of Map Change (LOMC) process looks like, with a focus on the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) process. For projects that fall within or near a flood hazard area, part of the land disturbance permitting process is to investigate the impacts of the proposed project on the base flood elevations. Provides a better understanding some of FEMA’s acronyms, what the LOMC process is, what forms and fees are required, and what modeling efforts are expected. Works through some typical examples of when a CLOMR/LOMR versus a no-rise study might be needed, some examples of differences by jurisdiction, and some lessons learned.
