Freese and Nichols Opens Palm Coast Office Led by Northeast Florida Engineering Leader
Freese and Nichols grows its Florida presence with the addition of Curtis Burkett, PE, LEED AP, to lead the firm’s new Palm Coast office, less than two years after opening its first office in Florida.
Curtis will help the firm serve Northeast Florida cities, counties, and water districts within the Jacksonville to Daytona Beach corridor, the greater Jacksonville area, and the Southeast Georgia coastal region. These regions are experiencing significant population growth and infrastructure challenges, and Freese and Nichols will focus on support for area clients needing water, wastewater, stormwater, and climate resilience improvements.
Most recently with the City of Daytona Beach, Curtis brings more than 35 years of Florida civil engineering experience. His expertise includes an array of services in stormwater, climate resilience, water/wastewater, and general civil projects. Curtis will be serving in several capacities depending on the needs of our Northeast Florida clients, including client services manager, project manager, and project engineer.

Curtis has a B.S. in civil engineering from Florida Institute of Technology. He has been involved in American Water Works Association, the Florida Stormwater Association Conference Committee, and recently served as a judge for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida Engineering Excellence Awards.
