New Year, New Funding Goals
Happy New Year! As you set your personal resolutions, like spending more hours at the gym, eating healthier and finally organizing that one chaotic closet, don’t forget about your New Year’s funding resolutions. This includes updating registrations on Sam.Gov and Grants.Gov.
Sam.Gov is the central registry for entities wanting to do federal government business. Make sure your Sam.Gov registration is active and that all the appropriate people are listed as Points of Contact. If you plan to apply for any federal funding this year, you must have an active registration on Sam.Gov and a UEI number (Unique Entity Identifier) that matches your entity. If you are applying as a City, make sure your registration reflects this and that the points of contact are current staff members. Similarly, if you are applying as a public utility, verify this entity also has a Sam.Gov registration and UEI number. Designating an E-Business Point of Contact (EBiz POC) in your registration is essential.
Don’t forget to update your registration on Grants.Gov as well. Grants.gov is a centralized location for most federal funding opportunities and housing information on over 1,000 federal grant programs. A Grants.gov registration requires that an entity have a UEI number and be registered on Sam.Gov. The EBiz POC from your entity should register using the same email as the one in Sam.Gov, and the EBiz POC can delegate administrative roles to other users, including your Friendly Funding Finders at Freese and Nichols.
So, while you’re at the gym getting some good cardio on the treadmill, take a minute to review your Sam.Gov and Grants.Gov accounts. Or check out those websites during a break from cleaning out that crazy closet.
Happy New Year, and may you be successful in all your resolutions!
