Lubbock Chamber Names Heather Keister Businessperson of the Year
Heather Keister, who leads the Freese and Nichols office in Lubbock, has dedicated her entire career to West Texas. Her deep understanding of the community and commitment to building relationships and giving back earned her the 2024 Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the Year award.

The award recognizes individuals who excel in their fields and make a lasting impact on the community through their dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence. This award goes to professionals who embrace risk, lead with vision and drive innovation.
Heather has been deeply involved with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Board of Directors and leading numerous initiatives to support local businesses and foster economic growth. She also lends her leadership to important water and infrastructure initiatives in Lubbock. She regularly volunteers with the Lubbock Area United Way, Leadership Lubbock and other organizations.

Since 2013, Heather has played a crucial role in leading the growth and expansion of Freese and Nichols’ Lubbock office. She has led projects, including the City of Lubbock’s Road Bond Program and the Upper Brazos Regional Flood Plan, showcasing her expertise in civil engineering and her commitment to improving local infrastructure.
In 2024, the South Plains Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers honored her as Engineer of the Year, recognizing her impact on the profession and the community.
Heather said the Businessperson of the Year award “highlights our impactful work in the Lubbock community and the West Texas region. We look forward to continuing to build strong cities for many years to come.”
