Grand Prairie’s Elevated Storage Tank Wins Tank of the Year Award
The City of Grand Prairie’s Robinson Elevated Storage Tank (EST) has won the 2024 Tank of the Year Award from the Tnemec Company. The annual competition recognizes the most impressive and innovative uses of Tnemec’s protective coatings on water tanks across the U.S. and Canada.
Located near the City’s developing entertainment area, the tank features three massive hand-painted murals by renowned artist Eric Henn. The artwork highlights local attractions such as Lone Star Park, Grand Prairie lakes, and the entertainment complex EpicCentral, making the tank a true community landmark.
Freese and Nichols collaborated with the City to develop the logo rendering used by Eric for his paintings, and we also designed the lighting that enhances the tank’s visibility. Our role in the project included design and inspection services for a 14-MGD (Million Gallons per Day) pump station and the 2-MG (Million Gallons) composite EST. This project was a joint effort with the City of Grand Prairie, Landmark Structures and Gulf States Protective Coatings.
The Robinson Elevated Storage Tank serves a critical functional role and is a testament to the power of public art and community pride.
