Freese and Nichols Adds Geotechnical Specialist Mahsa Hedayati
Freese and Nichols has added Mahsa Hedayati, PhD, PE, to the Water Resource Design team to enhance our expertise in providing geotechnical solutions for clients across Texas and the Southeast.
Mahsa is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Fort Worth. Her decade of experience, which extends internationally, includes:
- Numerical modeling of geostructures, including dams, retaining walls, excavations, tunnels, mechanically stabilized earth walls, sheet pile walls, seepage analysis and bridge structures
- Pavement and highway design and subsurface investigation
- Design of deep and shallow foundations and global stability analysis
- Management of geotechnical projects including site investigation, in-situ testing, providing geotechnical recommendations, budgeting and proposals, and client support during construction.
She has handled projects for North Texas cities including Fort Worth and Colleyville and helped conduct research on pavement systems for the Texas Department of Transportation as a doctoral student at The University of Texas at Arlington.
And she has taught courses to professional engineers on Retaining Wall Design, Slope Stabilization Techniques and other aspects of the geotechnical industry, as well as graduate-level courses at UT Arlington on Computational Geotechnics, Soil Mechanics, Foundation Design and Geotechnical Aspects of Landfill Design.

Mahsa is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas and Iran. She’s a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a seating member of the Transportation Research Board’s AFP60 Committee on Engineering Behavior of Unsaturated Geomaterials.
