PFAS Team Wins AWWA Best Paper Award
Congratulations to Viraj deSilva and Justas Rutkauskas, whose paper, “Potable Reuse and PFAS,” was named winner of the 2022 AWWA Water Resource Sustainability Division Best Paper Award. The award presentation is set for the American Water Works Association Annual Meeting in June in Toronto, Canada.
Viraj and Justas also published an article titled “Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances: A New Incentive for Potable Reuse” in the April edition of the Florida Water Resources Journal.
Viraj, PhD, PE, BCEE, is a senior treatment process leader in Freese and Nichols’ Water/Wastewater Treatment group and chairs the Water Environment Federation PFAS Task Force. Justas, EIT, is a Treatment, Transmission & Utilities engineer.
Their award-winning paper was published in Journal AWWA, the official publication of the American Water Works Association, in December 2022.
